Another week has gone
by here in Buford, Ga. (30 min north of Atlanta). This weekend was
great; I feel like I actually got something done for the first time
in a long time since I was able to be home. I cleaned out my garage,
moved bushes around in the backyard and cleaned out my wardrobe...it's
amazing how much stuff you collect over a two-year period. Actually,
most of the stuff was things from my 14-month-old son. It's amazing
how fast kids grow. Max (my son) has grown out of everything, even
stuff with the price tag still attached to it. Lucky enough we have
friends that are having babies soon and there is always the Red
Cross who really appreciate getting these things.
It wasn't all Fall
cleaning this weekend...as exciting as that was (I say that sarcastically).
I also found time to shake down the new Proto-Auto Lola Ford Krohn
Racing Daytona Prototype last Friday afternoon. The weather was
not really cooperating with us very much that day; it was 48 F and
raining. Also, there was a bunch of leaves on the track so there
really wasn't much grip on the track but hey, we achieved what we
wanted. It was basically just a system check to make sure the installation
of the new Ford Engine was okay. Since this was the first Proto-Auto
Lola that a Ford engine has installed, we wanted to make sure everything
was okay before heading down to the three days of testing in Daytona
this past week. It may sound silly but the different engines have
their oil and water lines plumbed differently and have to be customized
for different chassis to maximize the cooling for engine, gearbox,
coils etc. But the Krohn crew guys did a great job as always and
everything went just fine.
I have been working
at Kinetic all week trying to get ready for the upcoming testing
we have at different tracks before the Holidays. We have three days
scheduled in November and another five days in December, including
a NASA event at Road Atlanta with an eight-hour Enduro race. I will
be racing in that with my Kinetic partner and a client of ours in
one of Kinetic BMW M3 GS car. It will be a fun race; we usually
have a great time with lots of laughs. The best part is that I will
be at our home track and I get to sleep in my own bed. Let's hope
the weather will cooperate with us.
As I mentioned I will
be in Daytona this week testing with the Rolex Series, but when
everybody is heading home after the test, I will be staying there
for another four days for the PBOC event and working with our Kinetic
clients. I will try to make it home for at least part of the weekend
to celebrate Halloween with Max.
Well, till next week,
hope you had a Happy Halloween, don't eat too much candy and stay
safe.
